No the HRM pro strap does not track sleep but can track HR, steps, etc. outside of an activity. From Garmin Site: Stand-alone activity monitoring (steps, all-day heart rate, calories and intensity minutes) using Physio TrueUp. You will need either a compatible watch and/or have the strap synced to a phone running the Garmin Connect app.

This is compared against an Apple Watch SE on one wrist, and a Garmin FR745 on the other wrist. Plus a Polar H10 chest strap on my upper chest, and a Garmin HRM-PRO on my lower chest (basically one above/below the nipple). I then threw in the Polar OH1 Plus and Whoop bands for fun too.
Plus, by only using a heart rate monitor, you miss out on some of the cool smart features smartwatches provide. Today's best Garmin HRM-Dual heart rate monitor and Polar H10 Heart Rate Sensor A Chest HRM like Polar’s or Garmin’s is supposed to be more accurate and can be paired with treadmills or rowing machines. As I said before I tried pairing it with my watch but couldn’t. I’m now told the Garmin Pro and Pro plus are compatible. Hrm pro plus. De hrm pro plus will sync with all your garmin watches, they say.. Lovely. Does this mean that it will sync the bodybattery-data also, because it does not sync it between watches, nore does the sleepmonitor.. This would be a real plus. I would love that these things would sync between watches. .
